Experience musical styles and characteristics of Zimbabwean music by joining the UW Zimarimba Ensemble (MUSAP 389/589 Zimarimba). Weekly classes offer an introduction to Zimbabwean-style marimbas, including traditional and contemporary forms that are learned by ear (rather than through Western notation). Participants in this class learn techniques and styles commonly found in U.S. based community, professional, and school marimba ensembles. No prior experience necessary.
