Studio Jazz Ensemble – MUSEN 346/546 B

The Modern Band, led by Cuong Vu, is a jazz rooted-ensemble with a primary focus on repertoire encompassing innovative trends in jazz of the last decade. Ensemble members are exposed to a wide range of musical influences that have pushed the boundaries of jazz as an art form. Students are encouraged to write original material for the ensemble and to apply the musical innovations of the artists of their generation to the sound of the group and its repertoire.

Note: **Participants in jazz ensemble auditions and rehearsals will require PPE—bag covers for woodwinds (including saxophones) and bell covers for brass players. Students who are unable to obtain the PPE gear in time for auditions may submit a video audition by following the guidelines indicated below.  Audition links must be sent to Professor Vu at cuongvu@uw.edu by Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 pm – 2:20 pm
