Biography

Nancy Zylstra is a highly regarded soprano who has enjoyed a twenty-year international career as a soloist, performing with such groups as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Toronto), American Bach Soloists, Portland Baroque Orchestra, on numerous chamber music series around North America, and in major early music festivals such as those in Versailles, Berlin, Vancouver, and Berkeley.

Since 1979, she has been on the faculty of Oberlin Conservatory’s Baroque Performance Institute. She can be heard on the Erato, Wildboar, and Koch labels, with her recording available on Apple Music and Spotify.   She has been the coordinator of the Artist Diploma in Early Music Program at Cornish College of the Arts, and was Acting Musical Director of the Medieval Women’s Choir during half of the 2014-2015 season. Classical Singer Magazine featured Zylstra in an interview in an issue on Early Music.   Zylstra has served on the board and is a member of Early Music America, and a board member of Pacific Musicworks, dedicated to the performance of early music.
