The Graduate Certificate may be completed through multiple admission pathways depending on a student’s academic background and status.
Standalone Program (U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents)
U.S. citizens and permanent residents may be admitted directly to the Graduate Certificate as a standalone program. In this format, the Certificate is completed as a two-year course of study.
Advanced Standing (Current MM and DMA Students)
Students currently enrolled in the Master of Music (MM) or Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) programs, both domestic and international, may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate with advanced standing. In this pathway, students complete the Certificate in one year, building on coursework already completed within their degree program. This option can be especially valuable for students who are mid-degree and anticipate an additional year of study, allowing them to pursue focused graduate-level training within a structured Certificate program.
*International Students
International students currently enrolled in the MM or DMA programs may also be considered for admission to the Graduate Certificate with advanced standing, provided they have not yet completed their degree. Because visa sponsorship remains tied to their primary degree program, eligibility for this pathway is limited to students who are still actively enrolled. At this time, new international students cannot be considered for the standalone graduate certificate program.
