Biography

Nicole Kuo Stankovic holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and a minor in chemistry from the University of Washington. She is currently a Masters student of Dr. Robin McCabe.

Originally from Park City, Utah, Nicole began playing piano at the age of five and was a student of the late Professor Gary Amano for thirteen years. Nicole has performed at various venues across the United States, including Meany Hall, Abravanel Hall, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. She performed Beethoven's Concerto no. 1 and Liszt's Hungarian Fantasy with the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra and was one of five finalists in the 2020 National Young Artists' Competition. Nicole has won numerous other competitions over the years, including the Utah division of the MTNA Competition, the American Protégé International Competition, the Golden Classical Music Awards, and the Seattle International Piano Competition's Classical Viennese Festival. She has also participated in Boston University's Tanglewood Music Institute and the Seattle Piano Institute, which gave her opportunities to perform in masterclasses for pianists such as John Perry and Stephen Hough.

Nicole is an active and deeply committed music educator who previously taught at Puget Sounds Piano School in Issaquah, Washington. She currently has a private piano studio and accepts students of all ages and abilities. Nicole has experienced firsthand how good music teachers and a strong support system can transform a child's life and nurture their lifelong relationship with music. Her goal is to make sure students feel more interested in music and its possibilities after each lesson than when they walked in

In addition to pursuing a Masters in Piano Performance, Nicole is currently a Masters of Public Health student in the Health Services and Population Health program at the UW. She is passionate about promoting health justice and advocating for health equity. In her free time, Nicole loves to read, ski, and spend time with family and friends.
