Cafe Racer, a coffehouse on the north end of Seattle's University District, has been a sort of home away from home for the past five years for UW music students, who instituted a weekly Sunday night open session for improvisational music making in 2010. A three day festival, Cry and Roar, running Jan. 23-25 at the Cafe, presents a slate of local and visiting musicians to commemmorate the five year anniversary of the sessions.
