Violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan returns to the UW School of Music in 2018 as the Fall Quarter Ethnomusicology Visiting Artist.  Fans of this virtuosic musician recall his Nov 2017 performance at the University's Meany Hall with visiting artist Zakir Hussain, a longtime musical collaborator.

A master violinist and vocalist of Carnatic music, Rajagopalan is known in India and worldwide for his virtuosity as a violinist and for his innovative approach to music-making, in which he combines his technique and background with various forms of music ranging from Hindustani to jazz, folk, blues, and much more.

A child prodigy who began performing at the age of seven, he rose to stardom performing with legends like tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and guitarist John McLaughlin of Shakti fame as well as for his solo violin work with Oscar-winning Bollywood music director A. R. Rahman and many others.

Ganesh Rajagopalan concludes his UW residency with a special performance of traditional and new music of South India, Sat. Dec. 8 at the UW’s Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse.  Details and tickets are available here.
