Outside judges for the competition were: Dainius Vaicekonis (Seattle Pacific University), Jensina Oliver (Shoreline Community College), and Victor Rosenbaum (New England Conservatory).

Dalma Ashby won the Strings Concerto Competition. The student of Rachel Lee Priday performed the third movement of Camille Saint-Saëns: Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61  for outside judges Juan Felipe Molano and Randolph Kelly. Her pianist was Jieun Kim.

Katie Zundel, alto saxophone, student of Michael Brockman, won the Woodwinds and Brass division competition with her performance of "Prelude, Cadence and Finale" by Alfred Desenclos.  Her pianist was Rachel Huang. Outside judges for the competition were Francine Peterson, bassoon; and Danielle Lemieux, horn.

All three students perform their winning concerto movements with the UW Symphony (David Alexander Rahbee, director) on Friday, April 28. Learn more about the concert.
