Huck Hodge of the School of Music Composition faculty was recently named a winner of the Franco Donatoni International Composition Competition in Milan, Italy, a noted international competition for young composers.

As part of the award, his chamber orchestra work Alêtheia was one of three winning compositions performed by the Milan-based Divertimento Ensemble at the 2013 Rondò Festival. In addition, he will be commissioned to write a large-scale work for chamber orchestra, dance and electronics in collaboration with the dance company Studio DiD (Danza Interattiva Digitale) to be premiered in 2014.

Founded in 1977, the Divertimento Ensemble is among the leading Italian chamber orchestras specializing in contemporary music.

A recording of Alêtheia performed by the Paris-based Ensemble Aleph may be heard here.
