The UW Percussion Ensemble, directed by Bonnie Whiting, performs regularly throughout the school year in Meany Theater and Meany Studio Theater. The group, comprising undergraduate and graduate percussion majors, focuses on contemporary music of many genres composed for percussion ensembles ranging in size from trios to nonets and dectets.

Music Behind the Masks

Students and faculty at the School of Music performed and studied music in Autumn 2020 with some dramatic modifications to format and staging. With nearly all classes held online, music students worked and studied from around the globe but also in some specialized settings on the University of Washington campus.

Festival of Historical Experimental Music for Percussion Nov. 19-22

The School of Music hosts a celebration of historical experimental percussion music spotlighting hidden gems, trailblazers, and a farewell celebration for the Harry Partch Instrumentarium at the University of Washington. With guest percussionist Allen Otte, The Harry Partch Ensemble, students of the UW Percussion Studio, and faculty directors Bonnie Whiting and Charles Corey.
