Guitar students of Michael Partington took first and second place in the 22nd  Northwest Guitar Festival Competition April 13 in Bellingham. Taro Kobayashi and Denis Ha placed first and second, respectively, in the competition, hosted by Western Washington University under the direction of professor David Feingold.

“Joe Marzullo also advanced to the semi-final round and acquitted himself admirably,” says Michael Partington, head of the University’s guitar program. “Taro and Joe are both juniors, and Denis is actually a non-major, but obviously a strong player and a valued member of the guitar ensemble. The competition is open to students from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta, so this was a great result for the UW."
