Centaur Records to issue JoAnn Taricani’s "Soundscape for a Cornonation.”
School of Music Professor JoAnn Taricani will direct the recording of 17th-century British music for which she was awarded the Noah Greenberg Award from the American Musicological Society in 2017; Centaur Records has announced that it will publish the recording, "Soundscape for a Coronation" in late 2019.
Combining voice, the Baroque instruments violin, theorbo, cello, and valveless trumpet, the music was published in 1661 and is connected to the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660 and coronation of Charles II in 1661.   Samples of the performances may be found here.
