Biography

B.A. History, University of New Hampshire, 2017

Graham Peterson is a second year graduate student in Ethnomusicology at the University of Washington. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of New Hampshire. While pursuing his degree at UNH, Graham worked to develop an interdisiplinary field of study which combined both music and history. This allowed him to participate in extensive course work and research within both departments at the University, enabling him to develop a strong foundation in both musical analysis and historiography.

Graham's research interests include Popular Music, Protest Music, Afrofuturism, Hip-Hop, and Intersections of whiteness studies and popular music. His work has been presented at national conferences for the Soeciety for Ethnomusicology and the Society for American Music. In addition to his scholarly interests, Graham is also an accomplished jazz guitarist.
