Biography
Meaghan Guterman is a professional soprano and voice teacher in the Seattle area. Since relocating from Milwaukee in 2016, she has been serving as a section leader and cantor at St. James Cathedral, singing with professional ensembles such as the Mägi Ensemble and Chorosynthesis, and teaching voice, piano, and rhythm lessons. Meaghan is also pursuing a DMA in Vocal Performance at the University of Washington.
Meaghan enjoys working with students of all ages, levels, and a wide range of musical styles. She teaches voice in her private studio, and has previously taught at Meter Music School, Henderson Academy of Music, and The Music Factory. Her priority is to help students achieve healthy and functional vocal technique, while combining a holistic and fact-based approach. She keeps up-to-date with current vocal pedagogy by attending conferences and through personal study.
Meaghan was recently seen singing the national anthem for the Mariners game with the Mägi Ensemble, performing opera arias for the UW Vocal Theatre Works Auditions Project, and presented her first doctoral recital, which included works by Darius Milhaud, Kurt Weill, and Eric Whitacre. She will be giving her next doctoral recital in September, which will include BWV 51, "Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen," and BWV 209, "Non sa che sia dolore."
When not singing or teaching, Meaghan enjoys spending time outside with her 19 month old daughter, and husband.
