Michael Partington, head of the UW's guitar program, stopped by the KING FM studios last week with flutist Donna Shin and guitarist Kevin Callahan to talk with Arts Channel host Marta Zekan about the works to be performed during Partington's faculty recital, Guitar Plus!, Sunday February 28, 7:30 p.m. at Brechemin Auditorium.

Joining Partington on the program are faculty artists Donna Shin, flute; Ron Patterson, violin; Joyce Guyer, soprano; and Carole Terry, harpsichord, along with guest guitarist Kevin Callahan.

"I liked the idea of doing a chamber music concert--it's always fun to play chamber music--and I felt like I had a stable of potential partners on the faculty at the University of Washington," Partington said when Zekan asked how the program came together. "I thought about pieces that I liked from the guitar chamber repertoire and faculty members that I already knew a little bit and . . . came up with the short list out of that."

The short list includes works by Mauro Giuliani, Leo Brouwer, Dominick Argento, Luigi Boccherini, Bela Bartok, Johannes Brahms, Radames Gnattali, and Astor Piazzolla.

Details about the program are available in our upcoming events listings.
