Mukilteo Beacon: Interim conductor shares his passion for music

Shaun Day was in the right place at the right time.

Day was busy with his doctoral of musical arts in conducting studies at the University of Washington when he received a call from the Mukilteo Community Orchestra.

The orchestra's previous conductor was having health issues and was not able to continue with the upcoming 25th anniversary season. Another student Day works with had some connections with the orchestra. Day, 33, was asked if he was interested in stepping in as interim conductor.

He was.

"I literally got the call on the Friday before that Tuesday rehearsal," Day recalled.
