When David Rahbee began decorating his office after joining the UW School of Music as Director of Orchestral Activities and Chair of Orchestral Conducting in 2013, he immediately put up two posters. The University of Washington Department of Dance announced Feb. 10 the appointment of School of Music associate professor Christina Sunardi as the department’s next chair, effective July 1, 2020. The announcement was shared via a letter to UW Dance faculty, staff and students signed by UW Dance faculty Rachael Lincoln and Hannah Wiley (interim co-chairs), and Associate Professor Jennifer Salk, who steps down on June 30th after six and a half years as department chair.... April symposium examines the historical roots of an enduring ballet tale while celebrating its revival. An exceptionally full year finds Giselle Wyers immersed in multiple large projects both at the University and beyond. Head of the School of Music's choral conducting and voice programs and director of the University Chorale (an auditioned ensemble of UW undergraduates), she also is in demand as a clinician and as a composer of commissioned choral works.
