
Biography
Professor Crabtree's research focuses on the transmission of creativity and improvisation in music education. The topic of her dissertation research is creative music pedagogy in the practice of Orff Schulwerk mentor teachers.
She currently works as an assistant professor of music education at the University of Memphis. Prior to that, she worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Washington for 4 years. She taught music to children in both public and private schools for more than two decades, and she is certified in both Orff (2004) and Kodály (2015). Professor Crabtree frequently presents workshops to adults on both philosophies. She recently taught beginning and advanced Kodály pedagogy as a core faculty member at Loyola University Maryland in the master of education program.
