The Center for Digital Art and Experimental Media (DXARTS) and the School of Music present "Pour la Terre,” a program of classic works for loudspeaker orchestra, with pieces by Jonty Harrison, Jean-Claude Risset, and Richard Karpen.
Program:
Klang (1982) - Jonty Harrison
Sud (1985) - Jean-Claude Risset
Pour la Terre (1989) - Richard Karpen
Harrison’s Klang evidences an immediate concern with “sound” and representations of performance.
Risset’s Sud presents a “sound photograph”, as series of sequences of images of the sea.
With Pour la Terre, Karpen offers a musical chiaroscuro, of light and shadow, a lyrical obbligato on the human condition.
