People Involved:

Violist Melia Watras's recording, 26, is a collaboration that centers around world class violists performing and sharing their own compositions with each other. Featuring performances and works by Watras, her former professor Atar Arad (soloist and former Cleveland Quartet violist) and Garth Knox (formerly of the Arditti Quartet and one of the most sought after performers of new music), the trio of violists/composers is joined by violinist Michael Jinsoo Lim (Pacific Northwest Ballet concertmaster/solo violinist and member of the Corigliano Quartet) and composer Richard Karpen (renowned composer and pioneer in digital arts). The title of the recording comes from the number of strings on the instruments used: two violas, one violin, and the 14-string viola d’amore.

Melia Watras, viola

Atar Arad, viola

Garth Knox, viola d'amore
