Mt Varnum: Wounded Caroline

Ted Poor's most recent outing as a bandleader has produced Mt. Varnum, a project he describes as reconciling "a  life-long love of deep swing with an equally earnest adoration of classic and indie rock." The group's 2013 release, Wounded Caroline, features nine tracks, co-written by Poor and vocalist Greg McMurray, that meld those influences with startling results.  A trip to Mt. Varnum, the band asserts, is a visit to "a locale where indie rock poets and creative storytellers gather around a campfire armed with analog synthesizers, atmospheric guitars and sculptural drums."
